Description
From the Maison Forestière hiking information sign, join the D4 then walk along it to the left for 100m; then cross to the 1st forest track on the right. Follow the signs.
- At the ‘La Forestière’ sign, follow the signs for ‘Combe des Acacias’ and take the forest track for about 150m.
- At the ‘Combe des Acacias’ sign, follow ‘Plaine de Mias’ for 2.8 km on the left. Descend the Combe des Acacias for almost 2 km, then turn right up a fairly steep, stony track. Pass the remains of charcoal makers‘ and shepherds’ huts. Descend to the junction at the ‘Plaine de Mias’ signpost. At this point, turn right towards ‘Combe du Renard’, 0.8 km along an undergrowth path. You will again pass by old charcoal-burning huts before rejoining the GR42 on a wide track.
- At the ‘Combe du Renard’ signpost, turn left towards ‘Bois du Sorbier’ 0.1 km further on.
- At the ‘Bois du Sorbier’ signpost, turn right towards ‘Moure de Trian’ 1 km further on. Follow this path through a pine forest. At the ‘T’ turn left down the Combe de Chalon.
- At the ‘Moure de Trian’ signpost. When the path opens out onto a track suitable for vehicular traffic, climb it to the right until you reach a clearing where the signpost is +/- 20 metres to the right of the path.
- At the ‘Chêne rond’ signpost, follow the signs for ‘Terre Longue’ for 1 km and take the wide track which slopes gently northwards.
- After 200 metres, you'll come to the beautiful Chalon chapel. This peaceful spot is perfect for a picnic break in the sun or shade. Then take the tarmac track as far as the ‘Terre longue’ signpost and turn right towards ‘Chalon’ 0.2 km further on. At the end of the path in the undergrowth, cross the road.
- At the ‘Chalon’ post, turn left towards ‘Combe des Acacias’ at 1 km and when you reach a wide track continue in the same direction. At the ‘Combe des Acacias’ sign, turn left towards ‘la Forestière’ 0.1 km further on. At the ‘la Forestière’ sign, cross the road, turn left and take the lane on the right that leads back to the Maison Forestière.

Access and parking
From Bourg-Saint-Andéol, head towards Saint-Remèze and Vallon-Pont-d'Arc on the D4. Just after the right-hand bend, 500 metres past the top of the hill, turn right onto a wide forest path. The car park is on the left.
From Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, drive towards Saint-Remèze and Bourg-Saint-Andéol on the D4. At the end of the long straight through the forest, just before the bend to the left, turn left onto a wide forest path. The car park is on the left.
