Vogüé and Rochecolombe by bike
A mix of tarmac cycle paths and minor roads with gradients of up to 8% over a maximum distance of 2 km.
Charming old villages, a waterfall, panoramic views, the Via Ardèche greenway.
Description
As you leave the car park, turn right and go straight on at the roundabout. Go through the wooden barriers and take the cycle path to the left.
- Continue for 250 metres and take the right-hand fork at the junction. Take care at the crossing with the main road. Continue along the cycle path to the junction with a small road.
- 250 m after crossing a small bridge, turn right onto the road that runs diagonally towards the church topped by a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. At the end of the street, turn carefully left.
- At the traffic lights, go straight on (you can visit the church, which has the tallest bell tower in the Ardèche). Then head left (Rue de la Croix).
- At the cross, head down to the right: Chemin du Pont des Fusillés (from the cross, a short detour to the left takes you 300 m to a milestone on the Roman road of the Helviens, also known as the Antoninus Pius road).
- After climbing back up past the bridge, turn right and continue along this small road.
- When you reach Sauveplantade, turn right then left. After passing under a vaulted terrace, turn right. Don’t miss the pretty Romanesque church on your right.
- Then take the road on the left towards Rochecolombe. You’ll pass over a small hill; take care on the bends on the descent, which offer lovely views of the old village.
- You can lock your bikes to the racks in the car park on the left to go and see the waterfall and/or the village and its viewpoint at the very top. Continue along the road, cross the bridge, then head right and, at the village square where there is a tap, take the road to the right.
- When you reach the D1, cross carefully to the left and then turn immediately right. Follow this road until you enter the village of Saint-Maurice-d’Ardèche.
- After the arched passages, you can visit the church on the left.
- Before the arch under the terrace, head up to the right (Montée de Galine). After crossing the bridge, turn left and a little further on, head down to the left to rejoin the greenway.
- Follow it to the right and cross the RD carefully, then rejoin the greenway to the right. After a final crossing of the RD, you’ll arrive at the old station, now a library; turn left there to return to the starting point.
- Don’t hesitate to take a short detour straight on to the Vogüé viaduct, 600 metres away, to enjoy the stunning views of the river and the old village – or even take a stroll around it.

- Arrival : Place des sœurs Testud 07200 Vogüé-Gare

Recommandations
You are travelling at your own risk on this route, which follows small roads and a greenway. Observe the Highway Code and respect other users of the greenway. Drive carefully.
Be sure to visit Vogüé, a charming village ranked among the most beautiful in France. You can explore it by bike, but it’s best on foot. You can reach it via the greenway: turn left before the tunnel, then left again, then right. You can leave your bike under a shelter behind the Tourist Office. There are charging points for e-bikes there.
An e-bike or a bike with gears suitable for hills. A lock to secure your bikes so you can explore the villages on foot. A water bottle, a helmet, suitable clothing and, if necessary, something to protect you from the sun.
Bike hire near the Via Ardèche in Vogüé-Gare and close to Balazuc (in Les Salles).
