Chastelas de Vallon Walk

The walk starts at the Vallon-Pont-d'Arc Tourist Office. Take Allée du Chastelas to the roundabout. Cross the departmental road.

1. Go straight up, following the stone markers: Promenade du Chastelas.
2. When you see a marker with a double arrow, turn left to continue your walk. On your right, you can admire the view of the start of the gorge road. You are already below the castle, which you will reach by following the markers.
3. Take the footbridge to reach the orientation table with a breathtaking view of Vallon and the start of the Ardèche Gorges. When you come down from the footbridge, continue straight ahead. The path will offer you a beautiful view of the Chauvet Cave 2.
4. At the end of the descent, turn right and then right again, following the markers. You will take a pretty shaded path. When you reach the first house, continue downhill.
5. Turn right onto Chemin de l'Arénier.
6. At the end of Chemin de l'Ibie, climb up to the right towards Vieux Vallon.
7.  Follow the sign for Vallon Pont d'Arc, Promenade du Chastelas. From this point, you will also find the red markings of the GR4F. Continue climbing among the old houses, following the markers and then the markings on the left. At the top of the hill, you will have a beautiful view of the Sampzon rock.

You will finally find yourself back on the path you took at the start of the walk. Descend the Chemin des Réservoirs back to the start of the hike.
